Following the 2nd edition of the After Journal things went a bit quiet here at Thought Climber. While After Journals continued to find their way into the hands of new people in different counties across the UK and even the US, it took some time to decide the appropriate next steps.
Will there be another type of journal in the future? The answer is definitely, “yes!”
However, before that happens – there is a new arrival – the Channel Hope postcard set! It occurred to me that the tag line for Thought Climber is ‘Stationery for Survivors’ and while the After Journal is all about surviving the harrowing impact of loss by suicide, I was hoping to bring something fresh and uplifting the the product line, too. That’s when my latest idea was born.
In 2019, I am attempting a solo swim across the English Channel, from England to France, to raise awareness and resources for trauma survivors. But it’s not entirely selfless because I’m a trauma survivor, too. So by having this goal and starting the ‘Channel Hope’ campaign, it is as much about giving me hope as it is about spreading a sea of hope for others.
I understand there are times when it is really hard to remember how far we’ve come after or even during a difficult experience. In fact, when I designed the first postcard of the set: “Note to self: I’m a survivor” – it was a note for me. because I was going through a rough patch myself. But swimming, campaigning, and designing stationery really helps to bring out the best in me. And so I hope to bring my best to you.
